The Battle of Karbala — 61 AH / 680 CE
On the 10th of Muharram, Imam Hussain ibn Ali stood with 72 companions against an army of tens of thousands. They had no water. They had only their faith and the truth of their cause.
When the sun set on Ashura, Imam Hussain and his companions had fallen as martyrs — not in defeat, but in the greatest victory of conscience over power that history has ever witnessed.

Refusing Allegiance to Yazid
Imam Hussain refuses to pledge allegiance in Medina, choosing exile over compromise.

Arrival at Karbala
The caravan is stopped and diverted to the plains of Karbala.
7 Muharram 61 AH
The Water is Cut Off
Enemy forces block access to the Euphrates, denying water to the camp.
10 Muharram 61 AH — Ashura
The Day of Martyrdom
After Fajr prayers the battle begins. Imam Hussain is the last to be martyred. Lady Zaynab carries the message forward.
